powdered donut (biscuit)

It’s the last weekend before Christmas.

Cookies that we planned on baking, never got baked. Christmas movies weren’t watched. This holiday was on full speed and passed me up weeks ago. We plan on cramming it all in this weekend, as we plan on staying in the rest of the weekend after finishing up the last of present shopping. All  before the snow comes.

I don’t mind being snowed in when there’s a large supply of hot cocoa and sweets in the house. Besides, I promised Christmas treats and eggnog Christmas evening, so I need to get on that task as well. I love the smell of chocolate and cookies spread throughout the house. It’s makes me want to snuggle on the couch with my big comfy white throw and watch bad reality TV with the cat. Ok, in this case, those Christmas movies we had planned.

I used to make these powdered donuts when I worked at a restaurant some years ago. I call them “donuts” but, someone else may call them fried biscuits. I remember that it would depend on if the cool manager was working or not, whether we could sneak some for breakfast before the rush. A little flirting with him, and we would score some free donuts.

These days, I don’t have to flirt to score some, and the kids ask for them often. They are quick and easy to make and the kids love them covered in powder sugar and drizzled with syrup. We used our snowflake cookie cutter this time, in honor of the snowy weekend.
