I love ginger.

I juice it every darn day. This root is dah bomb for its ability to calm the digestive tract,  nausea, pain,  and even motion sickness. It is also  an effective antioxidant, as well as an anti-inflammatory agent. Studies have shown its ability to reduce pain in inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and relief to achy joints (the reason why I love it!).

But, did you know that ginger is also found to be able to be used to treat a precancerous condition or used as prevention to keep cancer from even starting?

Ginger, you rock!

The Deets

The most abundant compound in ginger is 6-gingerol. This is a safe and efficacious in preventing cancer, which means it could be used to treat precancerous condition as well.

The kicker is, you’ll want to consume dried ginger over fresh. Why? Because when you turn fresh ginger into powder, the gingerols are converted into a compounds called shogaols (the Japanese name for ginger).

6-Shogaol  is the most potent compound for killing cancer stem cells, where fresh ginger contains much less 6-Shogaol.

A recent study found that 6-Shogaol is 10,000x more effective in dried ginger than traditional chemotherapy for breast cancer research model.

Don’t you just love nature?

So How Much Should We Consume a Day For Prevention?

Consumption of dried ginger is safe and effective at a dose between 100 mg – 2 grams/day. That’s only about one teaspoon of dried ginger daily! You can add it to your favorite smoothie, tea, or even add it to your veggies or animal meat.

Buying one bottle of dried ginger should last you anywhere 23-80 days-make sure it’s organic! It can be found at the health food area of your favorite grocery store, online and even cheaper at Thrive Market.

Here’s a smoothie recipe to get that teaspoon of cancer-preventing ginger in for today:
