Its that time of the year again: Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte . But, it’s not the greatest for you. Their drink is made with milk, espresso, and a pumpkin spice syrup, which contains sugar, milk, natural flavors, and more. (You can see their nutrition info disclosed here.)
You’d be better off making your own at home. This homemade Pumpkin Spice latte is a better alternative, by combining a hint of real pumpkin puree, brewed coffee, any type of milk you like (I use coconut milk), pumpkin pie spice, and a splash pure honey. You’ll get more of a pumpkin taste and it’s refined sugar and preservative free-plus, you’ll get added benefit of collagen!
Pumpkin Spice Latte
This version gets its creaminess from almond butter instead of milk, which gives it a more concentrated coffee flavor, more similar to a version made with espresso.
In a blender, combine:
- 1 cup brewed coffee
- 1 tsp almond butter
- 1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup)
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree
- 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 scoop of collagen (I use this brand)
All you have to do is blend it together until it’s smooth and creamy. Drink it hot, or over ice.
I think you will really like it and not go back to Starbucks version!
