5 WAYS TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS EVERY DAY

I HAVE QUITE A COLLECTION of essential oils, but I find that I usually stick to my select favorites. I’ve learned over the years on my oil journey that I can incorporate oils into my day to help with whatever I might need help with that particular day.

Do you use oils daily? Whether you need to wake up, reduce stress, or improve focus, here are 5 ways to make essential oils part of your daily routine.

1. DIFFUSION

I love, love, love diffusing oils in the morning! It’s a great way to get your day started on a positive note. If you are working, or studying, try stimulating oils, or uplifting oils if you need an energy boost. When you need to relax at the end of the day, use a relaxing oil before bedtime.

Stimulating oils

  • Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Wild orange, Grapefruit, Rosemary, Basil

Uplifting oils

  • Lemon, Wild Orange, Peppermint, Bergamot, Geranium, Melissa

Sedative oils

  • Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Vetiver, Frankincense, Melissa

2. TOPICALLY

If you want to use oils topically, the most common places to apply oils are the bottoms of feet, chest, temple and pulse points. This is good for such things like aches and pains. Apply 2 to 3 drops on the skin (note: some oils are so strong, they need to be diluted with a carrier oil like jojoba, grapeseed or olive oil).

Remember, never use essential oils (even topically safe ones) near your eyes!

3. INHALE

A great way to use oils is to just inhale directly from an open bottle or rub a drop of oil between your palms and breathe in the aroma.

4. MASSAGE

Use oils as a massage oil to ease tension and get circulation moving. Did you know you could use oils as a massage to help with cellulite?

Make your own massage oil by adding 15-20 drops of your favorite oil diluted to 1/2 cup of carrier oil.

5. BATHS

Adding 2-5 drops of essential oil to epson salts and add to bath water to make a great aromatherapy bath salt blend like this one.
